ISO's climate commitment
ISO formalized its commitment to climate action with a resolution approved by the General Assembly in September 2021, setting a clear agenda for aligning ISO standards with global sustainability and climate goals. For ISO members, the London Declaration represents our pledge to embed climate considerations into every stage of standards development, ensuring that all new and revised International Standards support a sustainable, resilient future.
Key commitments include:

Inclusive climate solutions for all
Central to ISO’s 2030 Strategy is a commitment to inclusive climate solutions, amplifying the voices of communities most affected by climate change. Through its Action Plan for developing countries, ISO equips these nations with capacity-building tools, fostering participation in climate-aligned standards. By advancing knowledge in key areas like the circular economy and clean energy, ISO ensures developing economies can leverage its standards to tackle climate challenges and boost trade.
Empowering ISO members to lead on climate-responsive standards
The London Declaration calls on ISO members to embed climate considerations in the development of standards, supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement. To aid in this, ISO provides tools to help members drive climate action through standards.
